Sunday ride and Old Gits usual route.

Sunday 11th August.  Get out there before the weather breaks.  Not a bad morning, a bit blowy but did a circuit of around 20 miles around Weston. Used the electric power assistance more than normal to see what the effect would be on the overall usage.  It did make for an easier trip out and the end result was 20 miles at more than normal use, took half the battery power.  Happy with that and gives me a better understanding of the bike's capabilities.

Had a 'day off' on Monday and today, went out with the Old Gits for their normal ride.  I did make a bit of a faux pas by not reading the website properly and called for a mate at 8.30 to find they had long gone.  I had presumed we were doing one ride, they did another. So, Sparky went into overdrive and I caught them up just past Banwell.  I used maximum power on the steep part of the worst hill at Banwell and did a personal best of 2mins 28 secs over the .38mile section.  With two 'kicks' in the climb that works out to an average of 9.4mph. I went into smug mode until, looking at some stats on Strava, some bloke has averaged 17.1 mph on a normal bike. How deflating is that.  After tea and cake at Caffles garden centre ambled back to Weston via Sand Bay.  Enjoyed that ride, with good company in very pleasant weather.
