Catching up from last week.

Catching up a few days.  I was up in Leamington for a time last week and met up with Graham and Mick at the Stoneleigh Showground cafe.  No bikes this time for all sorts of reasons.  I did, however, take the opportunity to go out for a quick spin round on my Specialized bike.  Just a little seven miler from Leamington to Warwick and back.  The first photo is taken from the top of the Parade at Leamington looking south.

And this one was taken in Warwick at the bottom of Smith Street looking west towards East Gate.

The weather forecast for Friday the 16th August was pretty awful, so much so, that the Old Gits cancelled their training 'Friday Ride'.  As it turned out it wasn't too bad after all.
Saturday was a much better day, certainly after lunch, so an extended trip was arranged so that I could catch up on the family gossip with my eldest daughter who lives in Clevedon.  Quite a flat ride there, didn't need the electricity at all but on the return journey, power on and, went over the Mendips.  Check out the ride profile below the map.  Climbed up Burrington Combe and rather than go down Cheddar Gorge, diverted through a small hamlet called Charterhouse , the village of Shipham and returned to Weston via Winscombe and Banwell.  Climbed 900 feet and covered 51 miles in all so well pleased with that.

Taking a photo of these ladies near to Kingston Seymour, didn't disturb their munching one little bit.

Sunday 18th was an easy day.  A bit blustery but as an experiment, cycled round nearly all the way to Burnham and back (26 miles) on mainly power assisted pedalling.  The ride was fairly easy, did not need to do it as it was mainly over the Somerset Levels but just curious what the effect would be on the battery.  Still got a fair bit left at the end (about 50%) but it meant I did get out and recovered from the fairly longer day yesterday..  Clocked up 115 miles for the week.
