Catch up after meeting Princess Leah.

Had a good week cycling last week, including a 50 miler over the Mendips which added to the 130+ mile total for the week.  Could not have done that on an ordinary bike for sure.

That was on the Friday, the 23rd.  The Old Gits were out in the morning but I was busy so went out on my own in the afternoon.  A cracking day, warm and sunny so explored a bit and went east from Weston, through Winscombe and Shipham and climbed the 900 feet to Charterhouse.  That took a few degrees off the ambient temperature at that height.  Then it was the long descent into Cheddar, out through Wedmore to The Sweets Cafe near West Hay.  When I got there, just after four, it had closed but they relented and let me have the requisite tea and cake.  Just made the 50 miles on that trip, so well pleased with that.
On the Saturday just took an easy round trip to Burnham on Sea. As an experiment used the power assist most of the way round  a) as a warm down exercise from the day before and b) gauge how much battery a fairly light usage would use.  All part of the learning curve as to how best manage the available power in the battery pack.  Getting there.
Sunday the 25th was another warm, sunny day with the crowds packing into Weston.  I headed out to Wrington to see "Mother Hen' at her tea room but that was shut so covered the 25 miles there and back without a tea stop.  Lucky I always carry a water bottle with me.
Monday was a Bank Holiday, hot weather forecast so the tourists are pouring in.  I spent the morning checking over an old mountain bike I am going to lend out for a time. Just went down the prom and fought my way through the busy crowds near the Tropicana who were visiting the ComiCon exhibition of Sci Fi characters from screen and TV.  Just happened to bump into Princess Leah from Star Wars fame and the infamous London criminal Ronnie Kray.  You won't see these two together in a photo very often!

I went as far as Birnbeck Pier, still shrouded in a bit of morning mist.

This little jaunt was only 4 miles (every bit helps), the bike was fine, happy to pass that on, and still on track for the 5,000 mile target for the year.
