Friday Riders go to Mother Hen's. 39

A good turn out today, 11 riders plus a couple of Old Gits recovering from injuries.  The latter went part way before turning back to Weston.  Good to see them both.  It was a cracking start to the day as we made our way towards the Strawberry Line, Yatton and Mother Hen's at Wrington.

To avoid the sometimes busy A370 it was much better to divert out through Puxton and pick up the Strawberry Line near Sandford.  We had expected it to be getting overgrown to the point of being  troublesome, but there has been work going on to reduce the ever encroaching brambles and undergrowth.  Work has also started on filling in some of the ruts and potholes that have been appearing in the otherwise pretty solid surface.  Halfway along this section of the line we crossed over the A370 and this little bridge over the River Yeo.

We left the line at Yatton Station, along Kenn Moor Lane and right into Claverham to go back to Yatton. It was very pleasant along these quiet lanes.  From Yatton to Wrington and the Mother Hen Tea Room where a reserved table, thankfully outside, was waiting for us.  Another cyclist from Bristol took this picture. There were four of them and we had a bit of a chat and some banter with them.

From Wrington it was back to Weston via Churchill and Banwell with some of the group diverting off to make their chosen way back. Another good ride out today and I clocked 39 miles for the morning.
