Westhay and Woolavington. 41

Out today to catch up a bit of mileage to keep in contention for 5,000 miles for 2019.  Up to speed at the moment but don't want to lose sight of the interim mileage. Imagine getting to Christmas and still 1,000 to go!  Not a bad day at all, well, at the start, Unfortunately I didn't check the forecast because half way round the rain came in, not too much as it turned out.

Rode out over the Levels, through Mark and out to Sweets Cafe at Westhay.  Not many cyclists there at all today, normally at the weekend it is packed, they must all be on holiday.  Stuck on the M5 I would suggest, seeing the slow moving traffic as I crossed it twice.  Tea and fruit cake went down a treat before moving off and returning to Weston via Catcott and Crossington on the spine of the Polden Hills. (200 feet above the Levels.) Dipping down to the Levels through Woolavington, it is an easy run back to Weston especially with a breeze behind you.  That is until you come to this:-

Nearly home, a mile to go and the path through the Nature Reserve at Uphill was nearly blocked by this fallen tree.  I was unable to get me and the bike through without assistance but luckily someone on the other side of it, pulled the bike through which enabled me to scramble underneath.  (Just had a thought; they could have ridden off with it. I was not in a position to stop them!). Made it through OK and reached home on 41 miles, maintaining the target for the week.  Email has gone off to the council.  We need that tree shifting before about 15 Old Gits go through there on Tuesday next.
