To Wrington with some Old Gits 30

Out with four other Old Gits for a Friday ride out to Wrington.  Things didn't quite go to plan but as Will Shakespeare said, "All's well that ends well".  We had a 'guest' rider with us as well today, Sue, Tim's wife, and as it turned out it was good job we did.  Met up at our usual spot when heading north or east, Tescos on Maitlands.   We then headed out through Hewish to Congresbury and picked up the Strawberry Line to Yatton.   Ian introduced us to a back way through the village, a welcome change from what can be a busy road through the village centre.

From Yatton it was round the back of the Cadbury Garden Centre and a climb up to Wrington.  On arrival at our destination, the Mother Hen Tea room, it was closed, despite pre warning them by text and checking the facebook page. 'Open today' it said.  Luckily help was at hand as Sue's sister lived just around the corner and a quick check there confirmed that she could accommodate us and would welcome a visit. So that was sorted, Us five Old Gits were made to feel very welcome and we were offered a bewildering variety of spreads etc for our toast and tea and toast.

A surprise teaparty

Five happy Old Gits sat around a sumptuous spread, from L to R, Ian, myself, Simon, Sue, Tim and Phil. Thanks were given to Louise and Dave for putting up with us and supplying us with some decent fare. We did promise, on leaving, that we wouldn't make this a habit but in 12 months time if they are not sure what to do with the Christmas left overs, we are more than happy to help them out.
Rode back to Weston via Churchill and Banwell and we all covered around 30 miles.  A good ride today, a bit chilly to start with but finished in very reasonable weather for the time of year.
A bit miffed when I got home and found that Strava had recorded a ride of 0.5 miles!  Outrageous. Luckily I could pickup the main details from Tim who exported them to me.  Phew.
