Finish 2018 on the Levels. 35

Last day of the year although it doesn't feel like the end of December, more like October.   Certainly a pleasure to be out riding on a day like today. Headed south and east to the Somerset Levels,
might as well have an easy day today.  Going out to mark, extend the usual way to Burnham by going towards Burtle and then west to East and West Hunspill before heading back to Weston via Highbridge and the Bay View Cafe at Burnham.  Tea and cheese on toast went down well there and then it was back through Brean before the light faded.
Nothing much to report on this ride, saw three herons near Mark and although the roads were dry, the fields were all looking decidedly wet.  One of the herons was only about 9 feet away standing in one of the rhynes but I knew if I slowed down to try and take his picture he would be off like a rocket. Well, at least a very fast heron.  One of these days.  Pleased with the mileage today, 35 miles making the total for the year 5,296 done in 217 outings, an average of just a fraction under 25 miles a trip.
Happy New Year to the readers of this blog.  Keep pedaling.
