Old Gits bring in the New Year at Burnham. 24

New Years Day this year was a Tuesday so the Old Gits were out and about for the usual ride.  First of the month meant going over part of the Somerset Levels to Burnham on Sea for a tea break at the Reeds Hotel on the sea front.  10 Old Gits turned up today including one who only had surgery a few weeks ago. Good to see him back in the saddle.  Took the usual route out through Lympsham , East Brent and Mark to Highbridge and Burnham.

Puncture.

After vittles at Reeds became out and found that one of the electric bikes had a rear wheel puncture.  Luckily, the motor was not in the rear wheel but in the crank which made things a lot easier.  Initially we re-inflated the tyre to see how it held up but it didn't last too long.  This is us all throwing in our pennyworth on the sea front at Burnham.  Look at that blue sky.

Tube change

Less than a mile further on it was evident that re-inflating the tyre was not feasible for the next 10 miles, so we stopped to change the inner tube.  Plenty of help on hand as usual.  This worked and there were no more problems on the journey home.  It was a cracking morning, almost (but not quite) spring like and in several places daffodils were shooting up. They might regret that if the forecasters are to be believed.

A good ride today in good weather.  Clocked 24 miles on this one.
