Quite a dramatic change in the weather in the UK with a brisk wind from the Artic blowing down the country. Certainly extra layers and long johns today. Much needed. Went out to 'do' the Strawberry Line. Out past Locking, through Banwell and on to the disused line at Sandford. Back through East Brent, Brean and Uphill. Also looking to do at least 28 miles to get the mileage up to 100 for the week.
Mini Bike Races
The beach has been cleared from last week's Beach Race Event but a small section has been sculpted
to accommodate some 'mini races' for youngsters and teenagers. They have been on all weekend so just had to leave Weston via the promenade to have a nose. Despite being young motorcyclists, their skill has to be admired and the speed they travel on this difficult soft sand is amazing. Unfortunately, a still photo does not do them justice.
Sandford Rail Museum.
And Cafe. Came here several times here in the Spring in poor weather looking for shelter and sustenance and each time it was closed. Caught it open today on the last day of their season. Opens again at Easter. Set on the site of the old Sandford Railway Station, it has been preserved by volunteers, and sits on an apartment complex. The little shunting engine (called Marjorie) and carriages have been donated. Had a cup of coffee there (£1) and a biscuit, and carried on down the Strawberry Line when I had warmed up bit.
Strawberry Line
Did a couple of miles on this, looking for autumn colours but a bit too early yet. Not many people about for a sunny Sunday.
Finished off the ride after 28.2 miles. Job done. That is 100,6 for the month. Well estimated today I would say.
