Easy one to Burnham in the showers and hail! 27

Bit of a mixed weather day today but grabbed a nice bit of the sunshine  to do the usual trip down to Burnham on Sea.  Started out quite late, gone three, and it seemed a good decision.  That was until I got down the A370 near Lympsham and the heavens opened.  Luckily, this was about 300 yards from a filling station where a mad dash reached shelter form a pretty heavy hail storm.  That would have been painful out in that.  Ten minutes later, all stopped and carried on down to Mark.  Saw a little egret sitting by a rhyme, very close to the road.  A mile later there was a buzzard perched on a gatepost, again very close to the road.  Both birds cleared off when they saw me stop to take a photo.

Another forced stop when heavy rain came down in Mark.  Sheltered under some trees and took a picture of some sheep in a field.  Why not, at least they didn't run off.  Pity the litter bin had to get in on the act.  Off again after five minutes to get to Burnham.  Unfortunately, starting out late meant that the cafes in Burnham were closed so no tea today.  This won't do.  Another hail storm arrived, not so intense this time and sheltered by the sluice gate that goes over the River Axe.  Another five minutes and got going again.  No further hold ups after that although it did get suddenly very cold over a short period of time.

An interesting jaunt that, and another 27 miles under the belt.
