Who left the fridge door open. 34

The title of this blog occurred to me whilst I was battling against a fairly strong NW wind that was quite cold.  The forecast was not terribly good but after lunch it seemed to brighten up so worth a trip down to Burnham.

The Swan

Seen on the Kingsway, a lane that runs between Tarnock and Mark.  Nice to see a swan in the wild but not dead ahead in the middle of the road you want to get down.  His/her mate was in a field just on the right of here so bearing in mind the time of year, best to treat this fellow/madam with extra caution.   Not captured on camera but the disdain he/she felt towards human beings on bicycles was clearly demonstrated when he/she left a very clear message right in the centre of the lane.  Fair to say, fresh grass had been on the menu for breakfast this morning.   Better there than launched from fifty feet overhead.  Checking the bird books, this looks like a mute swan.

From here, near Mark, turned towards Burnham from the Levels, straight into the wind.  Have to say, it was fairly cold and had to drop right down the gears to make any progress.  There was an option to continue down to Bridgwater and catch the train back but I don't like giving up so soldiered on.  As it turned out, turning north back to Weston wasn't too bad.  That was a good option as met up with an Old Git in the Uphill Nature Reserve and stopped for a chat.

Just over 34 miles today.  Good to get some miles in as the few days are not looking any better at all.
