Usual route to Burnham on Sea 26

Another lovely day.  Didn't go out this morning with some Old Gits because of another commitment, but after lunch, it was so nice just couldn't stay indoors looking out at the sunshine.  Went out over the Somerset Levels taking the favourite route to Burnham on Sea where a cup of tea was calling from the Bay View Cafe.  Rode back through Brean and the new cycle path over the River Axe.

Muridae apodemus sylvaticus

Or in English, a wood mouse or long-tailed field mouse.  Saw this on the uphill section out of the Blradon nature reserve and it seemed quite happy to bible about on the tarmac path.  Stopped to get a better view of it scurrying about and another cyclist stopped and we discussed what it could be. A shrew? A vole?  Whatever it was it was not phased by us humans looking at it.  Got the books out on returning home and pinned it down to being a wood mouse.  The picture is a bit blurry but the thing wouldn't pose properly.

Finished up doing 26 miles so exceeded the weekly target easily and it is only Friday.
