Isle of Wight Wander 9

Landed on the Isle of Wight at lunchtime today ready for a Blues Festival at Norton Grange Resort.  An annual event now with the group I play in, it is a good opportunity to see some good blues and rock bands, meet the musicians, and perhaps join in with the nightly jam sessions.  It is also a good opportunity to ride the bike in different locations.  Today is no exception.  Booked in, sorted out the  chalet and unloaded the bike.  Didn't go too far, went south to Freshwater and then back across the island to Yarmouth, the ferry terminal.

Inappropriate sign

Must have red squirrels on the island if this sign is anything to go by.  Seen on the back road between Freshwater and Yarmouth, it does not go down well when the request to slow down is at the bottom of a hill!  Never saw any squirrels for all that.  Talking of hills, this is quite a hilly island and the first hill encountered was a goody.  Quite tough to be honest but made it up in one, the rest were not too challenging at all.

The Pier

A little wooden pier (the only one in Britain) which is in the town of Yarmouth next to the harbour.  The upkeep is reliant on donations of 50p into the little machine seen in the middle.  Didn't have one on me at the time so will have to take one out tomorrow.

A nice little ride, just short of 9 miles in decent weather.  Hope the rain keeps off tomorrow.
