Scouting Stoughton 31

Going exploring today with a target of 30 miles.  Checked out the OS map and looked at alternative routes to get to Wedmore.  Decided to go out towards Mark, head north on the A38 and cut across Allerton, Stoughton to Wedmore.

AshtonWindmill

This tower Windmill is just outside Chapel Allerton, and, turning a corner, it was a surprise to see it. This is the second mill on this site, the first was medieval and the present structure dates from the 18th century. It was modernised in 1900 and restored in 1967.  It is currently owned by Somerset Council and is maintained by a band of volunteers.  It is a Grade ll listed building.

Tree Sculpture

Didn't go into Wedmore, the mileage was going to be a bit high so went back to Weston via Mark, Rooksbridge and Lympsham.  On the Wdmore Road, in to Mark saw this tree sculpture at Mark College.  The writing on the trunk of the tree reads, 'Every pawn hast potential. Cant find the college or the quote on google unfortunately.  Nice carving though.

Clocked 31 miles today.
