15th July 2014 Walton Wander 31

Another good forecast for today, make the most of it. St Swithen's day today, the next 40 days weather will mirror todays. Fingers crossed. Taking a ride out to Walton Hall and back today. Need to call in at my bank in Warwick on the way, then out through Barford, Newbold Pacey to Walton then bacl through Charlecote.

Swan Street Warwick

One of the older parts of Warwick, Swan Street runs from Jury Street up to the Market Square. Popped into the bank then took this shot of one of the quainter parts of the town.

Oil Seed Rape

Just past Newbold Pacey saw this field of oil seed rape. Long gone are the bright yellow flowers of this crop, replaced by the seed pods and the dull brown leaves and stalks. This is just about ready for harvesting when vegetable oil will be extracted from the seeds.

Poppies in the corn

Called in at the Deli Cafe in the middle of Wellesbourne and stocked up on cheese and toast and a cup of tea. Very tasty indeed. Riding out of Wellesbourne and into the grounds of Walton Hall these poppies seemed to stand out from the wheat crop. Like the oil seed rape, this won't be long before the combines will be tackling this field.

Another nice ride today, clocked up 31 miles exactly.
