25th November 2013 Walton Wheeler

Out with Graham today. Heading south around the Wellesbourne area. Met in Warwick and went through Barford, Ashorne, Lighthorne, Walton, Wellesbourne and back through Warwick. Another cold day, so plenty of layers on. At least it is dry.

Barford Telephone Box
Going through Barford, checked out the local telephone box. The local Heritage Group use this defunct box to advertise local events, usually on a seasonal theme. It has been empty for a few weeks now and noticing that something has appeared in there, I thought it would be a display about the annual pantomime. Not so. There was a small display, extolling the virtues of the local Heritage Group! A bit of a disappointment but at least something has gone in there.

Ashorne village

A pretty little village, with a pub, 8 miles from Stratford and 6 from Warwick. Some of the older buildings, like this one, in the centre, date back to medieval times, before the birth of William Shakespeare. Didn't get a picture of the pub, The Cottage, as there was a big delivery van parked right in front. Next time through.

Four seasons project

This is one of the locations for the 'project', photos from the same location over the course of a year. This is the bridge that crosses the lake at Walton Hall near Wellesbourne. Disappointingly, not the vibrant reds and oranges I would have liked at this time of year.
Less disappointing was the fact we were only about a mile from Wellesbourne Airfield cafe at this point. Tea and cake was awaiting.

A good ride today, 38 miles. Ended up with cold feet as well.
