18th November 2013 Norton Lindsey Loop

A dreary day today, damp, misty, cloudy, a bit chilly, so best go for a ride then. There are a couple of hills that are best avoided round this area so why not tackle them head on. What is the worst thing that can happen? Get off and walk; that is an option that is tantamount to giving up which should never be an option. There is a long climb going into Norton Lindsey, a climb with a kick at the end. That is today's challenge.

Turkey time

The climb was not too bad. Don't know what all the fuss was about!
Must be Christmas soon, we don't do Thanksgiving in the UK. This fine fellow is opposite Hatton Country World. Judging by the size of him, he must have eaten a hay bale whole.

Canal scene

From Norton Lindsey, went towards Hatton and dropped onto the canal at Dark Lane. Not the best of surfaces to take a road bike on, but its only about 3/400 yards to Hatton Locks Cafe so worth the risk. The colours of the trees looked far more vibrant than in the camera, it definitely needed the sun to brighten them up.

Hatton Top Lock

This is the view from the lock looking north towards Birmingham. All very tranquil along here.

Brownley Green Lane

After tea and toast at the Locks Cafe, headed back home through Beausale.  Took a couple of shots of the vibrant autumn colours in this lane, again to be disappointed. The chap walking was very friendly and stopped to have a chat about photography.

20.5 miles today, the weather was not too bad after all. Would have been nice to have had the benefit of the sun though.
