7th October 2013 Training with Lisa Part V

The target today is 14 miles, the last push before the big race in a fortnight's time. I kept it a secret that it is going to be a hilly course today, good for the legs!  We met up at the little car park by Hatton Bottom Lock.  Last time it was free. In the last month, the Waterways Authority have put up ticket machines and it now £6 to park here. Best move then, off to the the nearby village of Hampton Magna, it is free there.

7 miles in

Made our way to the canal by Warwick Parkway railway station and accessed the canal there. A bit dodgy getting the bike over the lock, much to the amusement of a lady on a nearby narrow boat.  Along the canal then and up the country roads to Beausale. Leaving Hasely Knob, took this shot of Lisa going well along the lane. It was surprisingly warm for October, long may it last.

Hatton Top Lock

10 miles in and approaching the cafe at Hatton Locks. Serious stuff this training business so no chance of tea and cake today.

Warwick Parkway Station

Back at the car in Hampton we checked out various computers and was disappointed to see we just missed the 14 mile mark. My Strava said 13.9, Cyclemaster said 13.6 and Lisa's Mapmyrun said 13.3. The main thing was that Lisa had run over 13.1 miles so she is well set up for Birmingham. It was a tough route today, very hilly and she did well.
On the way home, I called in at Warwick Parkway for this quick shot.

An excellent workout for Lisa, 23 miles for my log.
