4th October 2013 Barford Bash

Take it easy day today. Rain is forecast later so out first thing on a fairly flat route to the village of Barford about 7 miles away. Have a mooch around there.

The Green Barn

In Barford village, turned off the main road into Wasperton Lane to see what was about. Not a lot until a mile up the lane saw this property, The Green Barn. Nothing too spectacular about this place, just hadn't noticed it before. The fields and fences looked very well kept and the setting seemed idyllic. This is not the main entrance, that is to the left.

Round Oak School Project

Just on the Wellesbourne side of Barford is Holloway Farm.  Round Oak School, in Warwick,  is a senior school for special needs children up to 18yrs.  In September 2012, the school purchased some land on the farm and set up a 'Learning in the work Environment' experience. The project has undergone much renovation and a portable classroom has been added. The students work at the farm several days a week to produce plants and vegetables. The aim is to supply the school kitchen with all its vegetables. If I had been 30 minutes later I would have met some of the students. Perhaps next time.

Cycled into the wind today which made for an easy ride back. Totalled just over 18miles.
