An easy spin around Leamington today after that 50 miler on Tuesday! Through Warwick, Myton Road and back via Newbold Comyn and Victoria Park. Forecast is heavy rain later so get out whilst it is dry.
Circus is in town
Passing through Warwick saw the circus has arrived in St Nicholas Park. They were just setting up as I went by. The Big Top does not look as big as the ones I remember from years ago.
High Street Mayham
This road closure has been going on for some time now. Phase two has now started which means this major crossroads, in the heart of Leamington, is closed to traffic in all directions. Best to steer well clear of this at anything like peak times although the knock on affects are felt much further afield. Cyclists, of course, are immune to such stuff, although see the last entry of today! This is the view from Clemens Street looking towards the town.
And this is the view in High Street looking towards Warwick. The van seen on the left contained three men, two eating sandwiches, one reading a newspaper. Tea break obviously.
Plastic Road
The road you can see is plastic and has replaced the usual footpath. It has been down for over a week now. I asked about and it is for heavy plant (two ton begonia?) to gain access to the river to do emergency repair work. Further on, they were taking it all up again. Good job because it was not too good to ride on.
Flood!!
It hasn't rained for a month! This must be some sort of water main burst. This bridge is just over half a mile from my house. It would have been possible to carry my bike on the left hand verge and walk a short distance to get back on the road. The man in the yellow outfit said no. He could see I was OK to pick the bike up and walk but Mr Jobsworth refused. I think his name was Adam Ant.
Instead of a half mile ride to get home, retracing the route added two more miles on. Good for the stats of course.
14 miles, not 12 today! More interesting than usual I think you will agree.
