1st December 2012

Another cold day, surprised to see ice on the puddles today.. Couldn't get out and about till after lunch so did not go far as the daylight would be gone too quick. Just stayed local and did a 12.5 mile circuit through Beausale, Honiley and Haseley Knob. Although the light was pretty good, low afternoon sun, not much opportunity for a decent set of pictures. Just the one today.

Did a little bit of research into this place.  Back in 1086, Honiley was mentioned in the Domesday Book as 'Hunilege'. The name means "Honey clearing where bees are numerous." Did not see many bees today! At that time the area would have been mainly wooded, part of the Forest of Arden. There is also a church on the site. The Hall itself passed through many hands until the early 1960's it was sold to Warwickshire County Council and used as an educational establishment until 1992 when it was sold back into private hands.
