25th November 2012

After more rain overnight, there is a possibility that a revisit to Rouncil Lane and Kenilworth Castle may reap rewards. Not a bad day today, a bit windy but nowhere near as cold as yesterday. The first visit was to Kenilworth Castle. The field in front of the castle was completely flooded. This is how it would have looked back in the 16th century as the stream was dammed then creating a big moat all around the castle.

A short distance away is Kenilworth Ford on the A452 to Birmingham. This was completely closed with almost 5 feet of water pouring through. Kenilworth Castle in the background.

The third visit of the day was to Rouncil Lane, Kenilworth. After the overnight rain the ford was about 2 feet deep preventing vehicles passing. In the interests of art, and this blog, I walked over to the far side of the ford to check out the best position for a picture. I should not have bothered, there was no advantage in doing that and I got wet feet as the ground was so sodden.
