Stayed local because of the rain. 16

A group of Old Gits planned to go out for a Friday Ride today, perhaps taking in the Mother Hen Cafe at Wrington after a jaunt down the Strawberry Line. Unfortunately the weather forecast became less promising as the week went on and a few OGs dropped out when it got to the stage that rain was a distinct possibility. As the ride 'captain' I felt the need to attend, the start at least, to see if anyone at all was going to venture out. As it turned out three others made the start, albeit in the pouring rain, so we agreed to shorten the route and head for the nearest cafe which was the Copper Kettle just off Weston town centre.  After dripping water all over the floor, we sat down for a coffee and did not discuss Brexit.   After 30 minutes or so the rain had eased off a bit so we decided to do a mini circuit of Weston out on the Toll Road through Kewstoke and back through Worle.

That was a good plan until the heavens opened at Kewstoke.  As one of the riders commented, "This place must have it's own micro-climate!".  Fortunately it eased off a bit at Worle.  One of the group left us there and we rode back to Weston on the cycle paths.  Inevitably the rain stopped as soon as we got home and even the sun was trying to break through.  Nothing lost though as we covered nearly 16 miles.
