Friday riders go to Sweets Cafe. 39

The Old Git 'Friday Riders' met yesterday for a 'training' run.  With the Great Western Ride just gone and the next one 50 weeks away I suppose Fridays at the moment are more of a social event that seriously into the business of getting long distances or big hills under our belts.  Yesterday was a fairly easy trip down onto the Somerset Levels to the popular cyclists cafe, Sweets near Westhay.

Tea and cake

Seven of us met up at Weston and went down to Sweets via East Brent, Rooksville and Mark.  We did encounter a Road Closed sign at Rooksville but rather than risk being turned back after a couple of miles we opted to take an alternative road.  We arrived at Sweets just ahead of about 20+ cyclists so didn't have to endure a long wait to be served.  There was no sunshine but as you can see, it was warm enough to sit out.  We returned to Weston via Apex Park at Burnham where we had to endure a second cup of tea.  From L to R; Jim, Pete, Tim, Ian, Andy and Phil.

Funny that the wind, though not too strong, was in our faces nearly all the way.  An enjoyable 39 rides to add to our totals.  Being on the Levels, hardly used the electric on my bike, just on the few bridges we encountered, so got back home with virtually a full charge left.
