Uphill Marina and Reserve. 1

After a drive out this morning to meet up with the Old Gits at Caffles, the normal watering hole, needed to get out for a walk after lunch.  For a change went south to Uphill, parked the car at the Marina there and strolled past the cafe and out onto the Nature Reserve.  For the first time this week actually climbed up a couple of hills - no problemo.

View of Brent Knoll

Going over the hill in the reserve a view of Brent Knoll comes into view.

Uphill Church

The  Old Church of St Nicholas dates from around 1080 and is a Grade 2 listed building despite have no roof on the nave.  It is still occasionally used for services despite that.  It commands quite a view over Weston Bay and the nearby mouth of the River Axe which used to be a port in Roman times, probably because of the lead mined nearby in the Mendips.  Uphill Marina on the left

Cold but dry today.  Enjoyed that 1 mile walk.
