To Mother Hen's with 5 Cold Gits. 32

Not nice out there today. In fact decidedly chilly with temperatures hovering just above freezing point.  We had decided to start slightly later today, at 0900 when the temperature rose 1 degree higher but it didn't seem to make much difference.  At least all the school kids were safely in by then.  Five of us met up at Tescos with one joining us later. We went out through St Georges to Puxton and across the moor (that was chilly) to Sandford taking the long drag up to Churchill, a climb of about 150'.  From there it was a nice long descent (unfortunately the faster we went the colder it got) until we arrived at the Mother Hen tea rooms in Wrington with numb extremities!

Having notified them we were turning up today, they were expecting us and just as we sat down a host of customers came in and the place was packed.  A good chin wag, a cup of tea and assorted cake and we were nicely warmed up when it was time to get cracking. Just as we had warmed up as well.  Actually the second half was much better than the first as the sun was shining. We went up the hill out of Wrington to Congresbury and Yatton and joined the Strawberry Line to head back to Weston.  Two of the Old Gits went further down the disused railway to Banwell whilst the remainder went back to Weston via the A370.  A good ride despite the cold and we each covered about 30 odd miles.
