Old Gits Day 22

Took the slightly shorter, and much less hilly, route to the Caffles tea stop.  Interestingly, since starting this way, several other Old Gits have joined in, proving that the steep hill at Banwell is quite demanding!

Caffles apre tea

When myself and another were approaching Caffles, it was a little too early to go straight there so we deviated slightly in order to meet up with the main group.  Couldn't fathom out why pedalling was getting harder and harder on level road.  Stopped to check the bike and found some farmyard mud that we had ridden through had collected between the tyre and rear mudguard, so much so that the wheel would hardly turn round!  A piece of twig, and my colleagues tool kit, removed it enough to carry on OK.  Had to remove the wheel later to get it all out.  The end result was another e-mail to the council (The third one regarding this farmer) reporting the excess mud and lack of signage.  This is 12 months after another Old Git came off in the mud and is suing the farmer.
Photo shows a couple of Old Gits collecting their bikes after the tea stop.

22 miles covered today.  Leamington and surrounding area next.
