Eight Old Gits nearly made Glastonbury 44

Out for a social/training ride with seven other Old Gits with the intention of going over the Somerset Levels to Godney, a tad short of the town of Glastonbury.  Not such a nice day today as regards the weather, reasonably warm but overcast with a fair chance of rain.  Set off at just after nine o'clock and rode down to Woolavington via East Brent and Mark.

The plan was to have a cup of tea at Wollavington church after about 16 miles and continue on to Godney before tea and cake at Sweets Cafe near West Hay.  At the church, met a local old couple just leaving who explained tea and cake is only served on Wednesdays and after the Sunday morning service.  That blew that plan out of the water.  Continuing on through Catcott and Shiplake, we took a shorter way to Sweets missing out the extra Godney Loop.  After tea and cake took a fairly direct route back to Weston via Mark and east Brent this time heading into the NW wind.  The rain did get a bit heavier as we approached Weston and we all finished up with over 40 miles clocked.  Personally I was just under 44 and had achieved 5 miles above the weeks target.
