Hilly ride from Churchill 32

The forecast is reasonable today, wind coming from the NE, but not too bad.  No rain forecast so might as well go out and challenge the Mendips.  Not in too big a way, the A38 trunk road cuts through at one of the lower points in the hills near Churchill so that is the target.  Getting there via Congresbury and after the descent, turn back to Weston down the A370.  A good chance to try out the new tyre purchased and fitted over the weekend.

Weird sculpture

Went past an Anglo/French restaurant on the road between Congresbury and Churchill and did a double take when I saw this statue at the front of it.  It is a traveller, complete with wheeled luggage, but no arms, half a torso, 2/3 of a right leg and a left foot.  Nothing there to explain what this all means unfortunately.  Makes you wonder what these artists are on sometimes.  Had to work fairly hard on the A38 to climb up to the top, 380', but fairly exciting descending on the other side!  Fingers were crossed that this new tyre will stand the pace.  Not a bad ride back to Weston with the wind over the right shoulder.

Clocked up 31.97 all told!  The mileage for the week, according to Strava, was 159.9.  That is the best weekly mileage for nearly 12 months so must be doing something right.
