5 Old Gits to Clevedon and Beyond. 45

A good ride today with four other Old Gits on a 'training day'. Met up at 9 in Weston and went to Clevedon via Congresbury, Yatton and Kingston Seymour.  Took an extended route back via Claverham, Wrington, Churchill and Banwell.  Despite the forecast earlier saying rain today, never saw any and, in the slight breeze, the temperature was fine in the low double figures.  Spring IS on the way.

Refreshments

Stopping at Yatton rail station in case another Old Git was able to join us, we were approached by some young damsels in distress for our expert assistance.  They were from a nearby nursery and were taking some toddlers in pushchairs to the Strawberry Line.  They had a soft tyre and had tried to pump it up using a public pump near the station.  Unfortunately, this was broken and only served to completely deflate the tyre. Along come the Old Gits and we couldn't help either!  The design of the little pushchair wheels meant we couldn't get any of our pumps on the valve to blow it up.  Knights in shining armour failed.
We had been debating earlier about where to have tea and cake in Clevedon as last time the place we chose was a bit expensive and the service was slow.  After advice from a couple of people we tried the kiosks on Clevedon prom but they were all closed.  Some mooching about found this place behind the amusement arcade and it was ideal.  Tea and cake were relatively inexpensive and we sat outside in reasonable comfort.  One for the future (when the sun comes out).

Four happy Old Gits

A passer by took this for us mid munching.  From l to r, Tim, Ian, Pete, Jim and myself.  The only downside about this place was it cost one of the Old Gits 20 pence to use the nearby loo!  Outrageous.  Left here and went a bit further afield towards Nailsea, through Claverham to Wrington tackling the hills leading up to Churchill.

An enjoyable morning that, clocked up 45 miles today
