Abandoned Old Gits Ride 13

Funny Old Gits ride today.  The route was the well established one to Banwell, Winchcombe, Puxton, tea at Caffles and back to Weston. With temperatures below freezing and a stiff east wind the turnout was pretty good, 14 in all.  Not all did the full circuit, for one, I had to be in Bristol before 12 noon so planned on cutting the ride short.  Some rode straight to the cafe and back.  12 started from Weston and rode to Weston to meet the 'Banwell contingent'.  At the meeting point we realised that Phil was not with us and may have had a 'mechanical'.  As I was not doing the full circuit, I retraced our steps (should that be tyre marks) and found Phil at the bottom of the Locking road mending a puncture.  Unfortunately, the new inner tube was defective so he had no option but to push the cycle home.  Luckily it was not too far out of Weston.  Another Old Git was late due to train troubles and a third had a gear cable snap on him.  Must be the cold weather.

So what should have been around a 25 miler today ended up as 13 miles but I did make the Bristol appointment in plenty of time.
