A freezing ride to Burnham and back 26

With temperatures below freezing this morning, must admit to being a bit reluctant to go out today.  Then saw the longer range forecast up to the weekend and realised that there may not be a choice about riding or not if and when the snow arrives so best get one in whilst it is still possible.  Chose the regular route down to Burnham on Sea and although the wind was not particularly strong, when heading eastwards, it was raw.  This was also the first time that I have seen the drainage ditches, the rhynes, frozen over and this is the fourth winter spent riding around the Somerset Levels.

Missing man

Rather than go through Highbridge Marina today, used the cycle path that runs through the nearby Apex Recreational Park and saw some unusual activity by one of the lakes.  It was Police divers conducting a search.  Found out later that a man has been missing since Friday night, last seen in a pub at Burnham, and there must be a concern that he could be in the pool.

Called in at the Bay View Cafe for tea and toast and more importantly, a warm!  Went back to Weston via Berrow and Brean and across Uphill Nature Reserve.  Which reminds me, on the way to Mark this morning saw a Reed Bunting clinging to some tall grasses.  That was a first, well at least Google images seem confirm it, a sparrow looking bird with a black head.  Bear in mind that description was taken from a bicycle travelling past the little geezer at 12 mph!  26 miles done today, Old Gits tomorrow which may be worse.
