Old Gits Training around Wedmore 40

A bit cold out there today.  Got slightly better as the day wore on but the extremities caught it a bit.  Met up with three other Old Gits on the prom at 0900 and decided to head out to the Wedmore area to the south east of Weston.  Overnight rain had left some of the side roads a bit mucky but we soldiered through it all.

Sweets Tea Room

Stopping after five miles to put on some thin under gloves didn't really help as the fingers were cold already.  By the time we reached the tea stop at Sweets Tea Rooms, south of Wedmore, the feet were cold as well.  I suppose 21 miles into our trip that wasn't too bad especially as the staff at Sweets were obviously mind readers; there was a log fire going well when we arrived. Tea and toasted tea cake hit the spot and we just had to pose for a snapshot, Ian on the right, Pete in black, Mike next and me sporting the orange top.

Home from Home!

We managed to secure these seats just before about 15 cyclists descended on the place. Very comfy sofas and a roaring log fire.  In all truth, we did not want to leave after a very relaxing 30 mins but it had to be 'onward and upward'.  Well not so much upward as there was another 19 miles to go which was as flat as a pancake.  A nice ride back to Weston as the sun came out, not enough to give out much warmth but we didn't need it after settling down around the stove.

Good day out today, 40.5 miles covered.
