Old Gits saying goodbye to Les 21

Usual Old Gits day with a difference.  One of the group, Les, fell foul of the dreaded cancer and was buried today.  A very popular member, those that rode today went to the funeral after a slightly shortened ride.  13 rode today, 15 went to the service.

Serious Blowout

Went out from Weston to Kewstoke and at Sand Bay, took a moment to let the stragglers catch up at the bus terminus.  As we stopped, heard an almighty bang (some thought it was a shot fired).  It was more dramatic than that, one of the Old Gits had a front tyre blow out, completely  wrecking the outer cover.  He thanked us for our help and decided to walk home.  We found out later that a bus driver waiting on his bus nearby offered to take him back to Weston and never charged for the service.  What a gent.

Formal dress will be worn

Gathering outside All Saints Church in Weston for the funeral of a Les, a good friend and well respected member of the group.  We had checked with his widow whether we could wear our tops and she heartily agreed saying that in his last few years the Old Gits were a big part of his life. Don't know if it is in the DNA of a cyclist, but we were the first to arrive at the church and the last to leave the wake.  Have to say, the food and company were excellent!

Clocked up 21 miles today.
