Burnham on Sea Variation. 23

Out to Burnham on Sea, heading for the Bay View Cafe.  Took a variation on the usual route and went down the A38, although it can be a busy trunk road, at 2pm its not too bad at all.  Weather wasn't too bad, the temperature was in double figures and the south wind wasn't too strong.

Air Ambulance

After tea and toast at the Bay View Cafe, went back towards Weston with the wind pushing me along.  Did not hold out much hope of getting any photographs until, at Berrow, near to the play area in Barton Road, was the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.  Just the job.  Considering it costs £2M a year to run the outfit and all money raised is by charity volunteers they do sterling work.  For example in 2015 they flew 675 missions, all to life threatening incidents.

What a poser!

There was a chap in the helicopter, a keen cyclist, very friendly, and I went over and had a chat with him about chain rings and loose cones.  I gathered that they had flown a doctor in to attend a nearby house so hope all is well there. He kindly took the below picture, which has impressed the younger grandchildren no end.  I did say to him that I did not want to meet him again in an official capacity!

Got home after 23 miles, just as it started raining.  Perfect timing.
