Wedmore Wander 38

Thinking about doing the Great Weston Cycle ride in July, Bristol to Weston. The route is variable and can be from 58 miles. I need to start an increase the longer rides once a week to build up to it. If anyone wants to have a go, check out http://greatwestonride.com/index.htm
A nice day for it today, Somerset Levels here we go.

That time of year

Went out past Bleadon, to Mark and headed to Wedmore, between Cheddar and Wells. These signs were out just before the village of Wedmore; sign of that time of year I suppose. Encountered one small stretch of road that had been resurfaced but did not cause a problem.

Nanny Ida's Tea Room

Just entering the village of Wedmore, saw this tea room.  This was about half way so ideal for tea and cake. A very quaint little place, very British, with a lovely garden out the back. £3 for tea and a piece of flapjack, not bad at all. Sat out in the sun, very relaxing. Hard to get going again, especially as the owner told me about a steep hill that would need climbing if I stuck to my plan. Taking his advice, unfortunately, added about 6 miles to the journey so may have been better to have tried the hill.

Quality

A very nice tea service to drink out of whilst perusing the advice the owner gave me about re routing.

Did just over 38 miles today, a good start to preparing for the Great Weston Ride.

PS. I have had a comment from the owner of the 'zebra'. The horse is wearing a fly sheet. See the previous blog comments that she made.
