Selsey Point Patrol 22

A real change of scenery today.  Down on the south coast at a Rythm and Blues Festival at Wittering. Put the mountain bike in the back of the car and took that with me.  The mornings are music free so round the West Sussex coast we go.  Took a trip down to Selsey Point today on a roundabout route.

 Billy's on the Beach

A little cafe right on the sea front at Bracklesham Bay. Did not go in because at this point had only travelled less than a mile. Not much point really.  Looks a good place though.

Fishermans Hut

A bit further round the coast, to the west, is this character advertising the nearby fish sellers, the hut seen in the middle.  Crabs etc were on sale, all fresh today.

Selsey Lifeboat Station

Just to the east of Selsey Point is the lifeboat station. Situated at the end of a pier to get the boats in the water. Looking at the station website they deal with a range of issues. So far this year there has been 9 call outs ranging from a missing ferry passenger to mechanical failures on boats. One was an unmanned dinghy. There must be a tale there somewhere.

Selsey

An impressive sculpture at the entrance to Selsy town.

Time for Tea

This is the RSPB site at Pagham Harbour, and it has a nice little cafe and a very helpful lady behind the counter. Just before I went in a bird watcher pointed out two avocets and a little egret that was on a nearby stretch of water. Two to add to the book.

A good ride around today, and I was back in time for lunch.  22 miles today. Looking forward to going out somewhere different tomorrow if the rain keeps off.
