6th October 2014 Autumn Arrives 13

Compared to the last month, looked out this morning and all was grim.  Rain, windy and not too good. The forecast was pretty good however and by lunchtime was a lot better. Took a ride out to Sand Bay and back today.  Apologies for the layout of this today. My laptop battery seems to have gone a box of tacks and can't get the hang of Sues desk top.  The first picture is the Tropicana at Weston. This has been mothballed for years and the former glory that was a lido is now a very sad building indeed. Having said that, the local council have decided to do something about it and plans are to be drawn up about its future.

This second place is the even sadder building that is the old pier at Birnbeck. The only one in Britain that joins the mainland to an island. Again, after about 25 years someone is going to get to grips with it. I wish them the best of luck. Plans are for a hotel complex etc.
On the way back home, at the start of the promenade near to the Marine Lake, these workmen were erecting barriers blocking off the road. Curiosity got the better of me and the explanation was that it is a precautionary measure as there is a higher than normal tide on Thursday and this is part of the flood defences. Councils and local government seem to have learned a lot over the last few years.
The wind was a bit blustery today but some nice sunshine. Did a decent 13 miles today.
