16th May 2014 One Big Thing 13

Easy day today, having a ride over to Warwick University to meet up with Mick and have a coffee and a natter.  Another gorgeous day, a real pleasure to be out in the fresh air. Not doing too much today after the exertions yesterday, just into the campus coffe bar and back.

One Big Thing

Half way through our tea and crumpets, Mick and I were approached by a lady asking if we had cycled more than 5K today. I think the lycra shorts and fluorescent tops were a give away of our hobby. As we had, we qualified for a free T shirt each. What a bargain. It is all about the BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) launching an initiative calling on universities to promote physical activities for the student population.  They had a stand outside the cafe so we completed a card outlining what we had done and Zoe presented us with our gifts. Thanks to Sarah for taking the picture.

Bikewrench

Nearby, on the same concourse was another stand, Bikewrench. This is a firm that services and repairs bikes and offers a mobile service. Every Friday morning, Dean calls at the University, sets up 'shop', and deals with callers and problems on the spot.  Alternatively you can book an appointment with Dean, the owner, who will help you out. Ring 07972 582 035 if you need  advice or help with a bike.

The Old Nick

This building, in Albion Street Kenilworth, was the old Police Station, now the British Legion Club. I went there in 1967 to find out about joining the Police and it closed shortly afterwards. Not because of my visit I hasten to add!

All in all, a fairly easy day today, in the sunshine, and after 13 miles got home with one more T shirt than I had before.
