24th January 2013 Draycote Dash 28

Out with ESCC (Emergency Services Cycling Club) today, hosted by Andy at Southam. The forecast was rain today but no sign of it on our trip round until the very end. The route map is slightly wrong, I forgot to turn the Strava on until after we started.

E.S.C.C.
At the start of today's ride. From left to right :- Di, Mark, my bike, Andy, Alan, Roger, John, Steve and Graham. 9 of us today, which, considering the weather is pretty good for the middle of January. The plan today is a circuit of just under 30 miles stopping at Draycote Water near Rugby for refreshments.

Tea break!

Andy, Graham, Steve and Alan lining up for tea and scone at Draycote Water.  Very tasty. One complaint, why where they playing Christmas Carols over the music system? Should have asked them really.

Draycote Water

Hard to get going in the cold wind after the scones!  This is a general view of the yacht 'basin' with the ESCC getting ready on the left.

The Peleton

Going down the Tomlow Road towards Napton. A bit of a long stretch this, into quite a stiff cold wind. Graham and John just ahead.

Apres ride.

I mentioned to Andy, some time ago that one of the better cakes is a Chelsea Bun. So, the master chef pulled out all the stops and made a bun ring. Well nearly all the stops, he forgot to put the cinnamon in. Still tasty though mate. Good job.

Quite a tough ride today. Just over 28 miles, a distance I haven't covered for some time.
