Raw is the best way to describe today. Sunny and dry but a cold wind that made it harder to get warm. Took a spin around Barford today.
Glebe Hotel
This hotel, near the centre of Barford was built in the 1820s and was, originally, the rectory to the Church of St Peter which is next door. It remained as a private house until 1948 when it was turned into a small hotel. It now boasts a fitness centre, conference facilities and better than average meals and accommodation.
East Gate Warwick
The Earldom of Warwick was created in 1088 and the Earls controlled the town in the medieval period. During this time the town walls were built and two of the gates, East and West gate survive. This is a view of Eastgate from the town centre looking east towards Leamington. For years, this was rented as a classroom by the nearby girls school but has since changed hands and is now a luxury holiday home. If you fancy staying there, bear in mind, in high season, it will cost you £1200 for a week.
A chilly, blustery ride today of 20 miles.
