7th September 2013 Wellesbourne Whisk

Busy morning around town so got the bike out in the afternoon and 'dashed' to Wellesbourne and back. I say dashed, I actually achieved my best overall average speed, 13.5 mph, and the best distance covered in a week, 122 miles.  And, I did not call at the cafe! Must be doing something right, and the knees are holding up.
This route has been covered so many times now, it is difficult to find new subjects to photograph so here are some from last October and November.

Tudor House Inn Warwick

One reviewer described this as one of the most spectacular buildings in Warwick. It does catch the eye admittedly. Within a stones throw of Warwick Castle and the Racecourse and not much further to town, this pub/hotel on the Stratford has a lot going for it though the reviews on trip advisor are a bit mixed. Most rave about the creaky, sloping floors which is not surprising in a 600 year old building!

Parish Church, Leamington

Taken in October 2012 not sure what this bit of sculpture is all about. Just outside the Parish Church, it stands on the site of the old town well. If you squint really hard you might be able to see swirling water. Or sparkly rainbows because your eyes hurt!

The Dungeon

Would you believe Barrack Street Warwick!  This is an old dungeon door leading from the Crown Court. It was used regularly in the 17th and 18th centuries and prisoners were led out from here, into the street to be hanged. I have seen the inside of this door. It has been kept in its original state and the room it leads into is horrendous.

Good run in out today. It is definitely approaching autumn though. Clocked 23.5 miles.
