14th September 2013 Temple Balsall Bash

Big storm approaching Britain from the Atlantic with gales and heavy rain so best get a ride in today before it hits us tomorrow. A similar route a few weeks ago was very enjoyable so do that today. Mainly on quiet country lanes, the route is out through Honily, Fen End, Temple Balsall and back through Chadwick End and Beausale.

The Bear

What a surprise this was. Travelling along Chadwick Lane from Temple Balsall to Chadwick End, I spotted this bear on a shed roof. I have no idea what the story is behind this and I asked a passing lady if she knew. Although she was a local, she had no idea either. The property includes a large imposing house, set back from the road, and it was not really appropriate to go bothering the owners on a Saturday lunchtime. Probably out shooting the peasants!

The view from the lane.

Another good ride of 20.5 miles, the latter part in sunshine. Batten the hatches ready for tomorrow.
