4th July 2013 More from Tysoe

Haven't been out for a couple of days with family commitments. So, to fill the void, here are some shots that didn't make the cut when I published the Tysoe Trot blog.

Cheers

This was the scene in the Tysoe Tea rooms whilst we were waiting for our snacks to arrive.  As I said, a cosy little tea room, clean and tidy and well worth a visit.

Ratley Church

Ratley is a small village just south of Kineton and is not too far from the site of the Battle of Edge Hill. This conflict took place on October 23rd 1642 and was the first pitched battle of the English Civil war.
Both sides were ill trained and not very well equipped and seemed more intent on looting than actually trying to score a victory. Needless to say, although the Parliamentarians won this battle of the war,, it was not a very decisive victory.

Red Lion, Northend.

A few miles from Ratley is the village of Northend. This is the Red Lion Pub. Northened sits at the bottom of the Burton Dasset Hills, t a well known recreational park and beauty spot.

Combines

Nearing the end of the day, approaching Southam, saw this field of Combine Harvesters. Not sure what they were all lined up for. The corn crops are nearly ready so I presume some farmer, or contractor, is getting the machines prepared for the task ahead. Stopping to take this picture, I realised what a hot day it was. In the absence of any wind, the heat was fairly intense.
