10th August 2013 Warwick Wimble

An easy day today, bimbling around Warwick Town. Time is a bit tight today so get a ride in early.

Governor's House Warwick.

The Goveror's House was part of the former Warwick Gaol, built in 1860, now demolished and built over. This splendid building, which served as the home of the prison governor, is all that survives. It has had several different uses since the closure including a public house, and it is now home to an accountancy firm.

Crown Court Warwick

This building has been a court building for many years, the first use being recorded in 1576. After the Great Fire of Warwick, the building was badly damaged, but carried on as a court. The complete site was rebuilt in 1753/4 and this is the building you see today. It is a Grade 1 listed building. now For the last two tears, the court function has been at Leamington and the main use of the building is by a ghost hunting firm! Interestingly, the road is closed on Monday as the BBC are filming here. May have to come down and have a nose at that.

The Lazy Cow Warwick

A regular meeting place for me and a small group of friends on a Saturday lunchtime. No different today, I was in here an hour after this was taken.  Not far from the town centre market place, this is a popular watering hole. There are also similar places in Solihull and Stratford.  A little bit pricey, they do boast excellent steaks but I cannot vouch for them. Never tried one.

A bit of a dash today, but an enjoyable 12.5 miles for all that.
