23rd July 2013 Newbold Comyn Crawl

Nice steady ride today.  Thunderstorms last night, and this morning, so waited for them to clear before setting off on the Newbold Comyn Loop.

Myton Hospice.

Took a small detour travelling between Warwick and Leamington to visit the Myton Hospice.  In 1979, the then Bishop of Coventry, set up a committee to organise a hospice for people in need of special care in this area. An appeal for funds was launched, and Myton Hamlet, a disused children's home, was purchased. After extensive renovations, it was opened by the Duchess of Kent in 1982 and since then, has provided comfort and support to countless cancer sufferers and their families.  A truly remarkable organisation in our community.

Euston Place

Just off the main Parade, in Leamington, this is the place to go if you want to buy/sell a house or rent property. Most of the town's estate agents are here.

 Leamington War Memorial

I should think every town and village in the UK has a memorial dedicated to those servicemen who have lost their lives in conflict since the Great War of 1914-18. This is the one in Leamington. "Lest we forget".

Pump Room Gardens

On the opposite side of the Parade is the Pump Room Gardens.  Looks like the fair has come to town. Don't tell the kids, leave your wallet at home, and preferably go to Cardiff instead.  Publishing this photo, I have just realised it was very brave of me to leave my pride and joy next to a litter/recycling bin.

Nice ride today on what has become a familiar circuit. Surprised I managed to find new things to photograph on the 14 mile trip.
