15th June 2013 Festival Frolics

Shortish ride today, but enough to make the 100 for the week. Did the favourite route into Leamington, around Newbold Comyn, and back home.

Aldi Arrives

Going past the industrial and retail sites on the south side of Leamington, stopped to have a look at the new Aldi store that has opened over the last couple of days. Another nail in the coffin of the town centre! This new one makes 4 big food stores within about a 1/4 mile. Sainsbury's, Morrisons, Lidl and Aldi plus all the other big retailers. No wonder the town centre always looks empty.

Summer View

This view has been done before but gives another slant of the seasons seen from the same spot. This location is a footbridge over the River Leam that leads onto Newbold Comyn. This shot looks a lot better than previous ones that have included floods and deep snow!

Leamington Peace Festival

Going through the town centre, the annual Peace Festival was taking place in the Pump Room Gardens. Ideal place to go if you want some rugs, statues made with twigs, herbal medicines and other substances! They do have live bands later on in the evening which is good. Unfortunately, the weather forecast is not too clever so if you do go, take your brolly. This clever chap holding my bike up was on a stand that promoted geology in Warwickshire. Would you believe his name is Dino!

A good ride today, nice and relaxed and managed to avoid the rain. Another 13 miles towards the weeks target.
