30th May 2013 Whitnash Wobble

After a fairly tough day yesterday, a gentle ride today round the old circuit, home to Newbold Comyn and back. Extended today slightly to take in Whitnash village.

More modern? art

This garden was photographed back during the Queens Jubilee. Then, the occupier, an eccentric artist who is passionate about recycling had a garden full of CDs strung around the place. Today, the 'exhibit' has been changed to blue bottles. Tasty! There has been an attempt to create a totem pole as well judging by part carved tree trunk stuck in the garden. I think this subject may come up again in the future!
I have just noticed some kid hanging out the next door bedroom window, looks like he may have been shouting at me. Never heard him though.

Cemetery Chapel

After a circuit of Whitnash, headed south to Leamington. Called in at the main cemetery to see what subjects were worth a photograph and took a shot of one of the two chapels in there. I don't think they have been used for years which is a shame; a fine old building going to waste. Riding round the cemetery I thought about the many relatives buried here, all in unmarked graves.

Wooden Sculpture

Heading back home, called in Jephson Gardens, a superb public garden in the middle of Leamington. This sculpture has suddenly appeared, carved from a recently felled tree. The symbols on it include, an elephant, signifying the nearby elephant walk, a fountain for the Czech memorial, the tropical greenhouse and the memorial to Mr Jephson the man that donated the garden to the townspeople in 1847.

The Aviary Cafe

Near to the sculpture is the Aviary Cafe. Years back, certainly when I was a child, this was actually an aviary with different varieties of birds on show. It has been a cafe now for a number of years. No tea and cake today, it was closed.

An easy one today, 16 miles in total.
