A new diner, a wet day, trouble with `Garmin and a puncture.

It has been a funny week this week in some respects.  First part was OK with a couple of 'normal' rides around Weston, one with the Old Gits.  Due to refurbishment the usual tea stop at Burnham on Sea Wetherspoons had to be abandoned but , ever resourceful we found a good alternative (when it is dry) at an unusual diner in the nearby Apex Park at Highbridge.  The only criticism we had was the bread pudding was freshly cooked and was too hot to be cut into slices, that was a shame because it is delicious.

Thursday was a bit of a disaster because the weather was rubbish.  Mick wasn't about, and Graham and I had a serious communication problem with me waiting in the rain for him, all kitted up, whilst he thought I was not going out!  We compromised by meeting up for a chin wag in Leamington and I finished the day with a 10 mile bimble in the cold and damp around Warwick and Whitnash.
Friday was back out on the levels with the a few of the 'Friday Riders' (some Old Gits who like to do more than just Tuesdays).  The plan was to drive down to Mark, a small village near Burnham and then to do a circuit taking in Glastonbury. This went wrong from the start.  The main road we needed was closed because of an accident, and we had to have a long detour round.  Once settled and on the ride, someone's Garmin was playing up and sent us the wrong way down a dead end.  Hurried consultation of the maps we had between us, put us back on track, nearly, and we ended up in the town of Street at a very reasonable and well run tea room, just off the High Street.

From there we made Glastonbury and it was a case of spot the wizards and witches as we went through the town.  Out the other side and it was an easy run across the levels back to Mark although I did get a 'snakebite' puncture just before the end when I hit a rock in the road.

Can I say, itt was road coloured before you comment.   The Glastonbury run was a 36 miler taking the weekly total so far to 101.  Game on.
