Yatton Yomp with Old Git and his gang. 31

Much better day today.  Cancelled Friday's Training run and went out today with Ian together with his wife and son in law.  Met up around 9.30 and after a quick chat about where to go, decided to head out to Yatton and the railway cafe there.  With cold weather over much of the country, we did debate what the roads would be like.  The trunk and main roads were OK, they had been gritted but we thought the side roads may be iffy.  Didn't take too long to find out when James rode over a pedestrian railway bridge in Moor Lane.  The top section was sheet ice and off he came.  No damage to bike or rider thankfully.  Reached Yatton via Wick St Lawrence, Hewish and the Strawberry Line and returned through Conglesbury.  Heading over to Churchill another elevated lump in the road was very icy and James came off again causing Viv to come off.  Very slippery at this point but just for a few yards, again no damage caused at all.

Made it back to Weston without further mishapafter that, not as cold as anticipated and 31 miles under the belt.

  1. Looks a good route there, Ken, well over the other side of the M5! And some different company as well makes for an interesting trip out. I would liked to have gone out here this morning but the freezing temperature and patches of ice here and there made me decide against it. Hope you are not using up too many of your nine lives down there!!

  2. Lucky this time. Roads were fine apart from two isolated spots on bridges. The tumbles happened ahead of me so I was in a position to react and avoid a spill. No snow and ice today, just high winds.
